They emulate the 17’ Southern Cross R-Pattern windmill, the smallest in the R-Pattern range of windmills. The R-Pattern fan diameter ranged from 5m to a massive 9m (17’ - 30’) in diameter, though this still wasn’t the largest garden pumping windmill available in Australia at the time.
